External Finishes

External finishes for houses built with Altherm ICF offer a variety of

options to enhance both the aesthetics and durability.

Common finishes include Cladding, Renders, Brick slips, and Traditional brick. Each of these finishes not only enhances the visual appeal

of an Altherm ICF home but also contributes to its overall durability and energy efficiency. The choice of finish often depends on the desired aesthetic, local climate conditions, and the specific performance requirements of the building project.

BRICK SLIP

No cavity Is required but a waterproofing layer must be applied first and then a bonding layer for the brick slip.

Mortar to be applied as per the manufacturer’s details.

TRADITIONAL BRICK & STONE

A minimum of 70mm cavity Is required with no waterproofing layer between the brick & Stone and the Altherm ICF Block.

ICF wall ties can be connected to the brick & stone across the cavity. Alternatively, no cavity is required if a waterproofing layer is applied.

CLADDING

A vapour barrier needs to be placed over the Altherm ICF system. As per standard construction practice timber/steel battens need to be

applied between the barrier and cladding.

RENDERS

For either Acrylic, Dashing or Monocouche a water proofing base layer must be applied first.

Never apply sand and cement to Altherm ICF.
